Friends? Naah
When someone doesn’t value you or your ideas, most of the time, the norm isn’t to tell you off? No no, they actually practice one of the 48 laws of power. The 3rd law: “Conceal your intentions.” It's a key aspect of their game.
They’ll cultivate a relationship with you. Sometimes do all the nice things for you. Bend over backward to ensure you get what you want to achieve.
They will go an extra, extra mile of even complimenting you once in a while. Blowing your trumpet as loud as possible.
As they wait for the right moment to strike. Mostly, by the time you realize you are the intended target, it’s too late.
What hurts most is not the slap on the left cheek. Nor the straight powerful right jab on the nose, no, no, no. Weird actions with minimal words hurt the most.
How do you treat people, in the happiest moments in the saddest moments, in their not sad or happy moments.
Why would you intentionally either sabotage or cause someone pain by acting or not acting in expected ways?
Why would you embarrass someone else in an office setup or in a public forum for that matter? Not with what you say, but what you do. Where you make them sit. How you advise them to dress, joke. Do not put them in a spot to speak, If they really don't have to speak?
The dress code, the language, opportunity and many more vises may be used to strike you down. Mop the floor with your long hair and wipe the tables with your clothes.
Anyway, you don’t have to be that person. Reach out help others, genuinely, help others. You never know. You might also receive help from the ripple effects of your social capital.
